Mississauga Wedding Videography: Jennifer and Regin’s Wedding Film Summary

Jennifer and Regin enjoyed a truly fun and joyous wedding day! Parallel did the videography for their wedding in Mississauga in May 2018 on a super windy day, probably broke some records, it was seriously windy! We actually used some shots that showed how ridiculously windy it was; the groom, Regin, sort of leaned into the wind to show how powerful it was! This was a pretty fun moment as Jennifer came up behind him and wrapped her arms around him. This wasn’t staged it was just something they did while we were waiting. These are the best moments and the sort of thing we strive to capture at Parallel, natural candid moments that share the personalities of the couple.

With this film I tried to have a fun and light-hearted tone as I felt that best represented the couple, and the day they had. We start of the film with some quick nature shots to slowly lead into the film, these shots are from the Riverwood Conservancy in Mississauga where we had the videoshoot. We then transition into the getting ready phase of the day, where we put together a little scene showing a cute activity the couple planned. They had their nephew, I believe, deliver the cards and gifts the bride and groom had prepared for each other. The couple actually lived next door to each other! So their two getting ready locations were their homes, and they were conveniently right next-door to each other. The groom sent over the boy with the gift and we see him deliver it to the bride surrounded by her bridesmaids. This is a really cut little scene and pretty unique (only time I’ve filmed something like) so I decided to lead with it in the film!

We then have a little scene with the letter reading and video from the videoshoot at Riverwood Conservancy. The couple is all smiles and do some fun little activities like the groom picks her up off the little retaining wall. Again I thought it was good to lead with this silly scene to set the mood and expectation for the film. We then get into the getting ready for the bride, and she continues to be fun and energetic with her friends. Lots of dancing and smiling and laughing! It was a great time hanging out with them all morning!

At the tail end of the bride’s preparation scene when she starts to put on her dress we do some match cuts to the groom getting ready with his father. There are a lot of nice match cuts going back and forth making the scene dynamic and also allowing us to transition very smoothly from one location and activity to another! I love stuff like this, this is why I love filmmaking - editing! We then have a brief scene of the groom with the groomsmen and a little scene with the bride all ready in front of the mirror with her flowers,

The music then builds and hits and we use some footage of the groom walking with his crew on the street in front of their houses followed by them doing a cheers in the house and the bride laughing and smiling. It’s a nice musical build that is paid off with fun moments.

I then use some details of the flowers and rings as a slower paced detail scene then start showing details of the church allowing us to seamlessly transition to a new location and time, again I love trying to justify cuts and create a scene and flow - that is what editing is all about to me!

Now we are into the ceremony which takes place at St. Joseph Parish in Mississauga, we established the venue and we jump right into the brides aisle walk and this whole scene is cut between the videoshoot and ceremony. The audio I decided to use during this ceremony/videoshoot scene is actually from the reception. The aunt of the bride quotes the Bible verses about what love is and I felt it was a nice accompaniment to the visuals of the couple and their moments of commitment to one another.

We then transition into some audio of the Maid of Honours speech, which is playing under footage of the couple at The Riverwood Conservancy. We also built to an exciting moment when the couple walks down the aisle and all their friends celebrate and smile in a mix of footage from different times. We now start cutting to speech reactions at the reception. The reception took place at Lakeshore Convention Centre in Mississauga.

We then have some audio from the bride, either reading her letter or giving her speech. It all builds to my favorite moment which is when the couple decided all on their own to run across a patch of grass. I had a hard time figuring out when to use this sort of unorthodox moment of the videoshoot, I couldn’t throw this fun energetic moment in during the ceremony over romantic and sentimental audio. So I decided to use it during the audio build up to the dancing at the reception and the couples entrance into the hall was a great cut point. The couple runs across this field and when the beat hits they switch to running into their reception. I was very pleased with this scene and I think it’s my favorite cut of the film!

We have some footage of the hall at the Lakeshore Convention Centre, such as the table arrangements and chandeliers. We also do a little scene of the special dances that evening. Then we have a really nice scene - the bride was surprised by a video message from her family back home in the Philippines and we captured some nice intimate moments for an otherwise pretty fun and energetic film!

But we quickly break out of that moment into a super fun scene of the choreographed dances of the bride and groom as well as the bridal party! Using that fun energy we go into the open dance floor and then we have a bouquet toss which predictably was also full of energy and laughs! Then we had some more open dance floor, plenty of good times!

And then for the good bye, final scene: I used some audio of the bride talking about Regin and the final video clip is a fun little moment which perfectly represents them. Jennifer picks Regin up and spins around and we get to see the absolute joy on both their face as the film fades to black.
