In June 2017, we had the pleasure of filming our first Jewish wedding in Toronto. Sam and Tima's wedding was a beautiful and memorable experience. Before the ceremony, Sam and Tima chose to do a "first look". When Tima saw Sam for the first time, he couldn't believe how beautiful she looked. It was a touching moment that set the tone for the rest of the day.
The ceremony took place indoors at Shaarei Shomayim, a beautifully decorated synagogue filled with white flowers and candles. Underneath a chuppah, a traditional canopy in Jewish weddings, they exchanged their vows. The ceremony was full of meaningful traditions, ending with the groom breaking a glass, a symbolic gesture in Jewish weddings, and then sharing a kiss with his new wife. It was a meaningful and touching moment that brought everyone together.
After the ceremony, the celebration continued with a lively reception at the banquet hall. There was plenty of dancing, toasting, and excitement throughout the night. One of the highlights was the hora, a traditional Jewish dance where the newlyweds are lifted into the air while their friends and family dance in circles around them. Sam and Tima each held one end of a handkerchief, symbolizing their union as they were joyfully lifted up by their guests.
We were fortunate to have our two talented videographers, Branden Murphy and Michael Lazzaro, capturing every special moment throughout the day. The whole celebration was a wonderful experience for us, filled with love, tradition, and joy.
Sam and Tima’s wedding at Shaarei Shomayim was truly a day to remember.
