Words of Love: Delhi Wedding at the Cranberry Creek Gardens, Ontario

A letter to Holly and Jacob…

Jacob, I've been waiting my whole life for this moment where I would get to marry someone as wonderful as you. I always pictured myself in a big white dress surrounded by flowers and friends in front of a castle, but I got so much more than I could have ever dreamed of in finding you as the person to share this moment with. You are everything that I was missing in my life but didn't know I needed; you make me the person that I want to be. Thank you for being so loving and patient with me every day.

Let me start by saying how lucky I am to have grown up with such an amazing person as my twin. We've been inseparable since day one. While we may have had our fair share of sibling rivalries and wrestling matches (in which I would win), I couldn't have imagined growing up with anyone else as my twin. Growing up as his brother, I had a front row seat to witness his amazing transformation from a mischievous troublemaker to a responsible and loving partner. To the happy couple, may your love continue to grow with each passing day just like our childhood mischief did. May you always find joy in each other's company, and may your life together be filled with laughter, love, and a healthy dose of sarcasm.

Mom and I are extremely proud of everything you've done so far in life. We know that you and Jake and Tilly have bigger and better things to come, but what makes me most proud as a father is the person that Holly is: kind, respectful, genuinely cares for others, and can always be counted on to do what's right. Your mom and I feel truly blessed to have Holly as our daughter, and I know she's made us better people by being in our lives.

Well, Jacob, Holly, today is finally your wedding day. It's a day that you have been planning for and dreaming of. Shortly, you will make promises to one another that you intend to keep, and there's an underlying premise to each promise: you're vowing to be there. You are teaming up and saying to the other, "For every experience I have, I want you to be a part of it."

I am so happy to share this beautiful day with you. As your husband, I promise to help you through anything that may overwhelm you, anything that may stress you out. I will always be there. I promise to be the best and loving dad to our children when that day comes, and I will always be the one to help you through a bad day and be there for your good. Holly, you are the love of my life, and I am honoured to make these vows to you. I will love you forever and always.

I promise to be your best friend and confidant, just as you are mine. I promise to continue to find ways to show you how much I adore you and to wake up every single day grateful that you are my husband. I've never thought of myself as a particularly lucky person, and I never understood why things just didn't seem to work out my way sometimes. I now know that I was saving all of my luck for the chance to be with you. All of my luck has been concentrated into this moment where I get to be your wife, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Jacob, Holly, it is my honour to now pronounce you to be husband and wife!
